Number 10 Map 1 Hawkesbury Harvest Farm Gate Trail Maps
As you drive up Bells Line of Road towards Kurrajong Heights it is quite important, if is a fine day, that you wind down the windows. Then you get to hear the wonderful tinkling of the bellbirds for which Loxley on Bellbird Hill is, in part, named. Situated only an hour or so's drive from Sydney, Loxley is perfectly placed to explore the Hawkesbury Harvest Farm Gate Trail, sitting as it does between Bilpin in one direction, and Ebenezer in the other. Through the gates and along a tree lined drive, you could be in another world, especially when confronted by the sweeping views across to Sydney.
I am fortunate to meet Mark Domars, who has been General Manager here for 13 years. His pride in this venue, set in magnificent grounds, is very evident. Over 120 weddings are held here a year, yet if you were to stay in one of the 22 rooms whilst a wedding was being held, you would be able to eat in the Private Dining Room, warmed in winter by its own fireplace. All meals are catered for here in house and the rooms are spacious and inviting, many overlooking the glorious views out to Sydney. There is a gorgeous swimming pool, which must provide cooling relief on a hot summer's day, after touring the district. Together with Boutique Accommodation and weddings, Loxley on Bellbird Hill is also a popular conference venue.
Mark is a former music teacher and such is his commitment to Loxley and its brides that he will play the violin or the piano, be the DJ and undertake Master of Ceremonies duties for weddings held on site. There are other staff who have worked here for over ten years, and this, no doubt, helps to explain the many awards which line the reception area.
What a lovely place to spend a weekend or take a midweek break, exploring the mountains and the Trail.
